Chitra Journals – Peer Review Policy
Overview
All Chitra Journals under Chitra Trust follow a double-blind peer review process to ensure academic quality, impartiality, and integrity. This means that the identities of both the authors and the reviewers are kept confidential throughout the review process.
Objectives of Peer Review
- To evaluate the originality, scholarly value, and relevance of submitted manuscripts.
- To provide constructive feedback that helps authors improve the quality of their work.
- To uphold ethical standards of academic publishing.
- To maintain the reputation and integrity of Chitra Journals as international academic platforms.
Review Process
- Initial Screening
- All submissions are first assessed by the Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editors for scope, formatting, and originality.
- Manuscripts that do not meet the minimum requirements may be rejected at this stage.
- Double-Blind Review
- Manuscripts that pass initial screening are sent to at least two independent expert reviewers.
- Reviewers remain anonymous to the authors, and authors remain anonymous to reviewers.
- Review Criteria
Reviewers are asked to evaluate manuscripts based on:- Originality and significance of contribution
- Clarity of objectives and argumentation
- Adequacy of literature review and theoretical framework
- Soundness of methodology and analysis (where applicable)
- Coherence of discussion and conclusions
- Quality of writing and presentation
- Compliance with ethical standards
- Editorial Decision
- Based on reviewers’ reports, the editor may decide:
- Accept without revision
- Accept with minor revisions
- Revise and resubmit (major revisions)
- Reject
- Final responsibility for the decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief.

Review Timeline
- Editorial screening: 1–2 weeks
- Peer review: 4–6 weeks
- Final decision: typically within 8 weeks of submission
Confidentiality
- Manuscripts under review are treated as confidential documents.
- Reviewers must not share, copy, or use unpublished material for personal advantage.
- Editors ensure that author and reviewer identities remain strictly confidential.
Reviewer Responsibilities
- Provide fair, objective, and timely feedback.
- Identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
- Disclose any conflicts of interest (financial, institutional, or personal).
- Decline review if unqualified or unable to meet the deadline.
Author Responsibilities
- Revise manuscripts according to reviewer and editor comments in a timely manner.
- Provide a response letter outlining changes made or justifying why suggested changes were not adopted.
Ensure that revised manuscripts comply with journal formatting and ethical standards.
Appeals and Complaints
- Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a written explanation to the Editor-in-Chief.
- Appeals will be reviewed by the editorial board, and an independent reviewer may be consulted.
Complaints about editorial conduct or review quality will be addressed according to Chitra Journals ethical policies.
Ethical Standards
- Chitra Journals adhere to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.
- Plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or unethical practices will result in rejection and may lead to author blacklisting.
